Michael Villiger was born on March 15, 1960 in Saanen. From his parents, both photographers, he inherited his love of design, his sense of aestheticism, patience and his attention to even the smallest details.

He was working as Pastry Chef at the Gstaad Palace from 1981 until 1984. Later he carried on the tradition from his mother’s side and decided in 2004 to dedicate himself to “Cutting Art” (Scherenschnitte). From the very first, his cuts were inspired by the beautiful landscapes of his native place the Swiss Alps. Step by step his cuts’ with scissors or cutter became more daring and accurate.
